CHEM HW DELAYED
Hey guys, I was looking back at that worksheet after a few students called. And I agree with them, we didn't practice enough in class, so don't do the homework and we'll do it tomorrow in class.
Quiz on Friday for Astronomy and Earth Systems!
You'll get your study guides tomorrow but here are the basic topics....
ASTRONOMY:
ASTRONOMY:
- The North Star & star trails depending on your latitude
- The path of the Sun in the sky during ALL 4 seasons, including how it changes
- The general motion of stars in the sky - where things rise/set, what makes day/night, what is local noon, and being able to understand pictures of the sky and what directions things are going
- Know the locations of the States
- Know the capitals of all 50 states
- Location of North American countries
- And if you're feeling ambitious - location of European countries...

Infinite Campus is down...
so it looks like your grades aren't going to be in the gradebook tonight :( My apologies to families and students! BUT - you are accumulating lots of grades and hopefully it's fine tomorrow after school so I can get them entered.

1st Homework for All 3 Classes
Whether you're in Chemistry, Astronomy, or Earth Systems (which I will be abbreviating from now on), you're first homework assignment is due on MONDAY, August 15th! Have your guardians look over your syllabus and sign that they did just that. Oh and you sign it to...and not a fancy signature because I can't read those...but just your name please :)
PS - Remember Chem, you have to bring a calculator as well on Monday. If you're thinking about using your phone, remember to ask me tomorrow because if it won't count, you'll have to get a calc this weekend.

This is a picture of Cerro Paranal in Chile. It is the driest place on earth, and the streaks in the sky are the meteors we talked about in class. This picture was taken yesterday. |

Welcome to My Classes!
Hello DV students, and Welcome Back!!!
If you're here, you're probably in one of my three classes. Whether you're in Astronomy, Earth Systems, or Chemistry, you will find information about class posted here. Families, you will also be able to use this information to help support your student. For example, the syllabus will be given to the students on Thursday and will be assigned as homework to be brought back on Monday - their homework is for you to go through it and sign it! :)
I am so excited to spend the semester with y'all!
